all about the BARRE
I FINALLY signed the bar! It only took me about 6 months to hit my 100 classes, but hey I'm proud of that. I always get a good bit of questions about PB + the workout gets some major attention since its newer so I'm here with some answers from my experience!
Do not let the cute tanks fool you, Pure Barre is TOUGH. My first class I wanted to quit about 20 minutes in.....but I kept going for about a week and then I was super hooked. It does get easier, because YOU get stronger. It gets better and better the more you learn your body and how to expertly find your shake (something I'm still working on) ! I live in Florida, so I got to the Ponte Vedra Beach Pure Barre, there are about 5 or 6 studios in the area but this one I can ride my bike too, and I've gotten quite attached to some of the instructors so it's my daily studio! Below you will find my answers to some of the most common questions:
1. What even is Pure Barre?
"Utilizing the ballet barre to perform small isometric movements set to fantastic music, Pure Barre is a total body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs, abs, and arms, and burns fat in record- breaking time" is the definition given by the creators of Barre. Do not fear if you have no ballet experience, because I sure didn't and I can do all the moves fine (some just burn more than others!) Class takes you through a warm-up, an arms portion, thighs, butt, abs, and a cool down so a little bit of everything gets work! 55 minutes and you will be feeling it, the movements are small but very powerful.
2. Do you see results?
After about two months of consistently taking class, my arms were certainly toned and I was starting to lose weight in my thighs and around my waist. Over the past 6 - 8 months I have lost almost 20 pounds....something that I have never been able to do with any work out plan ever. The results were quick and lasting, I am excited for the first time in my life to buy a bikini this summer! I work out so I can eat what I want AKA PIZZA!!!! It's all about feeling good and loving yourself through the process.
3. How long until you got used to it?
As I mentioned earlier, my first few classes were rough. I had no idea what I was doing and it seemed everyone else in the class was a perfect pro......but it just took time. I can say that a full month in I was confident with the moves and started to challenge myself to sink deeper into positions, etc. Every class makes some part of my body burn, so it is still effective after 100 classes.
Pure Barre has really made me so much of a more confident person (body + mind), I love going to class and seeing my friends there - every studio I have been to is full of welcoming woman and just an inspiring atmosphere. You will definitely find a new lady tribe and get a butt kickin' work out, but its SO worth it! Try out your local studio, or come by Pure Barre Ponte Vedra! The instructors are AH-MAZING and the owner is one of the sweetest people I have ever met! I would love to see you there!
