Cozy Owl Cabin
HAPPY NEW YEAR! This year for Christmas I wanted to surprise Tillis so I found us the coziest little air bnb and on Christmas Day I gave him a secret note with a picture of the cabin! One of our favorite places to go is Boone, NC - its the cutest little town (usually with lots of snow in the winter) close to slopes but also cute little shops and local restaurants. When I found this air bnb I knew it was the one as we have always wanted to stay in an A Frame cabin. The link to this place will be at the bottom of the post!
Boone is about a 7 hours drive from Florida, just enough time to go a little stir crazy! We like to pass the time with new podcasts and watching all the towns along the way pass us by. The cabin itself was only about 8 miles from downtown, up a small hill but still tucked away just enough to be very quiet and secluded. As soon as you walk in the door opens up to a hallway and first bedroom, then on to the living room. The kitchen had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and all dishes are provided. My favorite part of this cabin was the living room - a comfy couch and a fireplace with a view to the back porch. We spent New Years Eve on this couch with pizza and movies and a warm fire :) exactly what we wanted to do to welcome in our wedding year 2019!
One of the best parts about this cabin was definitely the host, were such fans of airbnb and it supports families and local people instead of large chains, but our host was amazing! She left us bottle of wine, brownies, logs for the fire, and even sparklers to bring in the new year. Throughout our trip she checked in on us to make sure our experience was wonderful, and her details in the cabin were IMPECCABLE. Macrame, little feathers, baskets, pretty colors, and cozy blankets made this place truly feel like we were at home.
The cabin has one bedroom and bathroom downstairs, and then a loft bedroom framed by the roof of the cabin upstairs (romantic for sure) lined with lights and beautiful pillows and bedding. If you have kids, this would also be fun for them to stay in while you get some peace downstairs :)
While we didn’t get any snow, the back porch was still wonderful for some relaxing! Downstairs there is also a swing perfect for coffee and listening to the stream that goes along the property. On New Years Day we did sparklers on the porch and in the morning enjoyed the view of the mountains. Boone has always been a special city to Tillis’ family, and I am so happy that we get to carry that on by taking trips here. After finding this cabin, I feel like we have a new “home away from home” and I can’t wait to come back!
